Cranberry cookies

I don’t bake often, and when I do, I prefer some easy and simple recipes. These Cranberry cookies were actually my first cookies ever baked, and they taste delicious. I got the recipe as a present last year, and I keep making them.

Cranberry cookies and Twinings Winter Spice tea

Cranberry cookies recipe

– 115 g soft butter

– 1 egg

– 1 tbs vanilla sugar

– 140 g flour

– 40 g oat flakes

– 2 g baking soda

– 3 g salt

– 50 g sugar (I use brown crystal sugar)

– 60 g dried cranberries

– 100 g chopped white chocolate

– 55 g chopped cashews

In a bowl mix the egg with soft butter and vanilla sugar, then add all the other ingredients and mix well until the dough is smooth. Make small balls and bake them in the oven at 175°C for 8-10 minutes (until the edges get brown). Enjoy them with a cup of tea or milk.

Alternatively, when I ran out of cranberries, chocolate and cashews, I mixed M&M’s in the dough, and they taste great as well.

Me time, tea time

Recently, I got a promotion code from the Twinnings, so I made a large order of their teas in time for the winter season. There’s nothing better than a cup of hot tea to enjoy and relax. I usually go for the known blends, but I made an exception with the Bollywood Tea Latte. And it was the right choice.

Elves on the shelves

Well, there will be more than one Elf on my Lego shelf in 2015. A new theme Elves will be introduced in January 2015, and it will feature elves as minidolls. In a way, the theme will be similar to Friends, as it will bring a number of new types of bricks and colours. The first pictures of the series can be found on Brickset. The new pieces that caught my eye are the leaves in pink, lavender, purple and lime, although I’m not sure how the pink hues could be used for greenery. Nevertheless, I’m sure there will be a number of MOCs featuring this ”greenery”. In addition, flowers in lavender seem new, and I’m pretty sure there will be more interesting bricks also in the not-yet-revealed Elves sets.

Keeping New Year’s resolutions

The end of the year is closer every day and this is the time to think back if you kept your New Year’s resolutions. One of mine is to buy less books to save on money (and space). And I never managed to keep this resolution. This year I found a perfect solution – the BookBub. By signing in, it keeps me posted on deals and bargains on Amazon and Kobo for ebooks matching my interests. I’m considering this site as an alternative to library, where I can actually get books from unknown authors to try something new and not feel bad about spending money on something I might not like. And they don’t take any shelf space, either. If you’re an avid reader like me, this is something to try out.

Waiting for a train

I’m taking advantage of being home alone, with the baby sound asleep, and surfing the web. As my Lego collection hasn’t been restored yet (I still don’t have a designated Lego area in this appartment, nor the time to build), I’m looking also for some inspirational MOCs. Although small in size, this train station is full of lovely details. I wouldn’t mind waiting for a train here even if it was running late.

A picture is worth a thousand words

When taking a walk through the Tivoli Park, I stumbled upon this great open air exhibition Picture Slovenia at the park’s promenade. The photos were taken by amateur photographers for a contest, and they are fantastic. If you don’t have ideas where to go on your next holiday, these pictures might help.
