In case you were wondering where I’m hiding, I’ve been kept busy at work and home, prepping and finalizing all my duties. I’m not a 100% ready (and probably won’t be), but it’s keeping me busy and away from some of the actitivities I’d like to have more time for. Well, in a couple of months, I’m expecting another big turn.
The end of the year is always a great time to travel, either to snow covered lands or Christmas decorated cities. I had a chance for both, but my train conection didn’t allow much time off, so I didn’t get to see much of the Christmas decorations of the Austrian cities Salzburg and Innsbruck. Nevertheless, a short stay in south Tyrol mountains was very pleasant.
As I’m getting ready for my next business trip, I realized I haven’t finished my post on the last trip. I spent 5 days in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in early September. I didn’t have much time for sightseeing, but since this was my second time there, I simply enjoyed the scenery and warm weather. I discovered some interesting bookshops, and brought home lots of new books to read in the near future.
In the last year, the nearby botanical garden (Arboretum Volcji potok) became a place I visited weekly. Not every day, but still many times a week. Despite this many visits, it’s still a great place to relax, enjoy a walk, or run after our toddler on the children’s playground. The changing nature does the trick, there’s always something to see.
The last couple of months I’ve been extremely busy at work, and had practically no time for myself except the early morning workout routine (which got pretty exhaustive in the end as I was pulling late hours trying to finish all the project). I managed to complete all the important projects just on time before starting summer holidays. This is the view from my first day off, enjoying the sunset at sea.
After a year and a half I still feel like the new one in the neighborhood. Years ago I rollerskated almost every afternoon. The rollerskates were my favourite transport means, and they could get me just about everywhere. But then I started to move places, and I never could really find the perfect route for rollerskate exercise (as in a long stretch of asphalt with little to no traffic to increase the heart rate). Last Sunday’s weather report was rainy, and when the early morning showed some sun, it was the best thing to just get out. I put the baby in the stroller, so he got to enjoy the scenic route, and I got a chance to do some fast pace walking to wake up completely. I didn’t mention I got only 5 hours of sleep the night before, so I had to get out of the flat, otherwise I’d fall asleep on the floor.
I didn’t take the rollerskates, but I did check a side road I had in mind for a while. Although it’s close to the main traffic route to the nearby town, it’s blocked by a low railing, and offers a great view of the surrounding fields and mountains in the back. On my way back, I picked some wild daisy flowers to remind me of the sunny morning. I have to admit I’m enjoying them these last few days, as the weather turned grey and dull.
I admit I didn’t quite belive the weather forecast today around noon, when I was driving home from work. At 15°C with wind and greyish clouds, it was to cool down towards the evening with a chance of snow. Well, here it is now. It’s been snowing since around 4 pm, and the roads are all white. Hopefully, the strawberries I had planted on the balcony won’t freeze (I moved them indoor, just in case).
