Mid-day time off

The first time in almost two months, the girls in our family enjoyed a lunch outdoors. One had a bottle of milk, the other one just a salad. After a short shopping spree getting some essentials for home and a new shade for the stroller, we hit the road to my favourite place, local botanical garden Arboretum Volcji potok. It’s been a while since I visited it during the day on a working day, and I had the pleasure to enjoy the peace and quiet and cool and fresh air. Even the bench by the fountain was unoccopied. When I returned to the gardens later in the afternoon, the noise from the children’s playground was filling the air.

Spring awakening

Last weeks were all about creating a daily routine to include all the activities to keep a toddler active, a baby fed and rested and me with some time off. The last was not as succesful as I’d hoped. Nevertheless, despite the April rainy days I enjoyed beautiful spring nature in the local botanical gardens. Despite being a frequent visitor I can still discover hidden places within the park.

Autumn is near

Last weekend I used being up early in the morning, and went for a long walk to the Arboretum Volčji potok. It helped that I didn’t have a car for the day, and I walked there. According to Google it’s 6.6 km one way. A nice distance, and very managable as the route there is pretty scenic. I started off when the fog was still there, and the day just got better and better. Almost there, the view suddenly appeared. No longer under the tree shadows, the mountains came into view with some patches of fog lifting, and made the day very promising.

I left home without having a breakfast, as I was planning to have a bite at the botanical gardens. There’s not much there, just a small cafe serving treats. And the chocolate croissant was a treat. In case you’re wandering, the extra cup of milk was for the baby, not me.

I didn’t stay long there, as I was in a hurry to make it home on time for lunch. On our way out of the botanical gardens, I took more photos. I was a bit surprised to see the turtles sunbathing, as I haven’t seen them before. Well, they were partly hidden in the tall grass by the pond. It wasn’t hard photographing it, as it hardly moved while I took shots from various angles.

Although green was the predominant colour, autumn colours were already showing in some parts of the park. I’m definitely going back soon to see more of the changing colours.

On the way back I passed this old water mill, and I had to take one more picture.
