New year’s resolutions

I’ve been thinking about this year’s resolutions for a couple weeks now, and I’ve come up with the plans for 2016. Based on last years resolution, which was to look for book bargains, and spend less on books, I have bigger plans for this year. The aim is to post more than I did in 2015, and to include the topics I’m tackling daily, in order to reach my personal goals.

To start with books, which I haven’t read many lately due to lack of time, my reading wish list keeps growing. I’m planning to stay motivated and find time for reading some leisurely books at least 3 nights a week. Since I’m commuting to work by car now, I no longer have time to read during the drive, as I did before taking the train. I already have a pile of books which I want to start, as soon as I read the P. D. James’ Shroud for a Nightingale (Amazon Affiliate link), which I accidentally found in the local library while searching for the Stephen King’s 11/22/63 (Amazon Affiliate link), which my boyfriend owns, but cann0t find, and unfortunately or luckily, they didn’t have at the library, so I was free to go for the P. D. James’ novel.

As far as recipes go, I have a small number of cooking books, yet I only tried a handful of the recipes (less than 10). My plan for the year is to expand my cooking and baking repertoire, and find some nice and easy recipes to include in our daily lunch plans.

A year and a half ago, I became a homeowner, and since then our flat still has some issues to be solved. I’m constantly on the lookout for new ideas and solutions on how to improve our living space and get the most out of it. Of course, this subject is tightly related to my budget, as I do have two loans to pay off.

Last but not least, there’s always something going on in my life, and some of those moments I’d like to share. Whether it’s my latest LEGO creation or set review, a photograph taken during a walk in the nature, travelling, or something else, if it’s interesting, I’ll include it here.

All in all, the plan is to increase the number of posts and make the It won’t be long blog more interesting to readers.

Keeping New Year’s resolutions

The end of the year is closer every day and this is the time to think back if you kept your New Year’s resolutions. One of mine is to buy less books to save on money (and space). And I never managed to keep this resolution. This year I found a perfect solution – the BookBub. By signing in, it keeps me posted on deals and bargains on Amazon and Kobo for ebooks matching my interests. I’m considering this site as an alternative to library, where I can actually get books from unknown authors to try something new and not feel bad about spending money on something I might not like. And they don’t take any shelf space, either. If you’re an avid reader like me, this is something to try out.
